Are you an enthusiastic person interested in laboratory work? We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Biochemistry department to join our busy, friendly team in Chelmsford.
In accordance with agreed protocols and standard operational procedures, you will participate in the analysis of biological samples by receiving, preparing, and processing samples under the supervision of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered staff. This includes clerical input of patient and test details into the laboratory computer system and performing required supportive duties, such as preparation of reagents, administrative and clerical tasks, and maintenance of equipment.

Main Duties of the Job
The role of a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) is essential for the laboratory to provide a safe and efficient service by providing support to qualified Biomedical Scientists. An MLA working in the laboratory will perform duties such as:
1. Receiving samples into the department
2. Registering them onto the computer system
3. Preparing the samples for analysis
4. Performing maintenance tasks on laboratory equipment
5. Loading samples onto analysers
6. Filing and retrieval of samples
7. Preparing reagents
8. Collecting data
9. Answering queries
10. General housekeeping and administrative tasks
The role will include rotation through the various sections of the Biochemistry department.
