The Role & Key Responsibilities

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
In this role, you will be a pivotal part of a new team focused on transforming the Sussex Police Estate, making it fit for the future by having the right estate, in the right locations, supporting our people, serving our communities.
The Estate Transformation programme is a unique opportunity to reset the built estate across Sussex, through optimising and investing in our buildings to meet modern Policing needs; responding to the challenges of agile and efficient working; getting to NETZERO carbon; and addressing our repair liabilities; towards making our estate a great place to work that enables operational Policing.
As an Estates Project Officer, you will be supporting the delivery of capital projects yourself as part of a small team of staff focused on the delivery of projects forming part of the overall Estate Transformation programme. Projects will range in size and complexity from sub £1m through to large complex Police bases of c£30m. You will also be supporting complex disposals and acquisitions projects to rationalise our estate, all with a sharp focus on stakeholder engagement and ensuring we are supporting our operational Policing needs.
You will be an assistant project manager or project manager having supported projects through consultant teams and/or client-side teams. You will have experience of working through all RIBA stages, supporting stakeholder engagement and project communications, whilst having a developing focus on time, cost and risk, together with safety as most projects will require operational Policing to continue.
You will be a good communicator and negotiator, able to influence both staff and consultants through projects. Your outcomes will contribute to creating spaces that are fit for the future model of Policing and create a greater feeling of collaboration and well-being in the people we serve.
