An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a full-time substantive Band 5 Occupational Therapist to provide support for service users with learning disabilities and highly complex needs in a community setting within an Intensive Support Service. The hours are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday (Flexible working will also be considered) The successful applicant will be part of a fast-paced crisis response team and so we are seeking a highly motivated, organised and skilled Occupational Therapist, preferably with a background or previous experience in Learning Disabilities. An important part of the role will be to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and support the delivery of an integrated 'whole systems' approach for people with complex health needs. An essential element of the role will be to maintain and promote high standards of practice and high-quality outcomes, "Advocacy, Enablement and Empowerment" is the focus of our work. Applicants will need to possess the necessary drive, enthusiasm and commitment to deliver person centred outcomes in a time limited framework, closely working in partnership with service users and their families/carers. Main duties of the job o Under the supervision of the Band 6 Occupational Therapist and Team Manager as appropriate, work across a shared caseload that reflects the priorities of the local service by ensuring the assessment of therapy needs, particularly in relation to: o Using specialist knowledge to independently undertake assessments and evaluate interventions with clients with diverse environmental, social, physical and mental health needs; adapting approach to the varying level of learning disability. o Close working with other services aiming to reduce health inequalities and improve access to universal services. o Opportunities to support access to mainstream health services for adults with learning disabilities. o The provision of timely intervention aimed at promoting and maintaining the health of adults with a learning disability, through the implementation of therapeutic interventions. o Provide assessment, training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the client's physical and social environment for the client and carers. o Will undertake a variety of Occupational Therapy assessments to assist in the identification of person centred support needs and intervention.
