Job Summary:
• The All-Age Disability (0-25) / Learning Disability (25+) service is looking for a Full Time Support Worker to join the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Team on a short-term agency contract.
• The team provides support to children, young people, and adults with learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviours.
• The role involves working within the All-Age Disabilities and Learning Disabilities Services, alongside multi-disciplinary teams, to deliver positive behaviour support, conduct assessments, and develop support plans.
• The PBS Support Worker will work directly with service users, families, and carers to implement behaviour interventions and strategies that aim to enhance the quality of life and promote independence.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Undertake assessments and create effective support plans.
• Provide direct support to service users and their families/carers to implement the support plans and behaviour interventions.
• Promote access to social, leisure, and educational opportunities to enhance service users' quality of life.
• Communicate effectively with service users, parents, carers, and professionals, adapting communication methods as needed.
• Identify and act on safeguarding concerns, conduct risk assessments, and escalate as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with professionals from multi-disciplinary teams.
• Provide guidance and consultation to social care practitioners, families, and other professionals.
• Participate in regular professional supervision and appraisals.
• Maintain professional standards through Continued Professional Development.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records in line with departmental guidelines.
• Apply anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive principles in practice.
• Ensure value for money principles are adhered to in service delivery.
Skills/Experience:
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and/or Applied Behaviour Analysis frameworks.
• Experience in formulating and implementing support plans and interventions for individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience in working with children, young people, or adults with challenging behaviours.
• Ability to engage with families and carers, providing training and support to develop behavioural and communication strategies.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to use specialist communication tools.
• Experience of working with a multi-disciplinary team and external agencies to achieve outcomes for service users.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and the ability to recognise and report concerns.
• Excellent interpersonal, literacy, and numeracy skills, with the ability to manage complex information and case records.
Additional Information:
• The full-time role: 36 Hr/week.
