About the role English National Ballet is seeking an Technical Director to lead all functions within the technical portfolio, working collaboratively with the Artistic Director (AD), Executive Producer, Music Director, artistic teams and visiting creatives to achieve the artistic vision of the Company. This position will oversee all technical department work output and resourcing for all productions, programmed events, projects and hires. Responsibilities Lead all functions within the portfolio and work collaboratively with the Artistic Director (AD), Executive Producer, Music Director, artistic teams and visiting creatives to achieve the artistic vision of the Company Oversee all technical department work output and resourcing for new productions and revivals, and all programmed events, projects and hires Develop very good knowledge of each touring venue and any working conditions which might impact the delivery of any production to the stage Lead a team of highly skilled craftspeople, to deliver all work to a high standard in line with technical requirements, budgets, collective agreements and deadlines Ensure a safe system of work and sustainable practice are embedded in all activities Provide leadership and line management to all direct reports, supporting them to grow and deliver their best work Uphold a culture of continuous improvement and innovation Key Selection Criteria Significant experience of delivering a range of technical and production management services within the performing arts and for a touring company Extensive practical experience of performing arts stagecraft, lighting, sound and stage equipment and current modern techniques The ability to work from designs to realise the artistic vision on the stage, working with a number of specialist teams A thorough understanding of Health and Safety requirements across all technical, production, costume and stage management areas and ability to ensure a safe system of work across all areas Very strong ability to assess workload capacity across different teams and the whole portfolio Experience and understanding of budgetary and resourcing considerations; able to manage budgets and negotiate with suppliers on terms when required.
