Whats the Role?
As the Temporary Works Lead, you'll play a critical role in the Enabling Works and Earthworks portion of the SZC project. You'll be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Contractors temporary works procedures, ensuring they are in line with the SZC client procedure as per BS5975: 2019. The role has the potential to be based from our offices in London or Suffolk.
Your Responsibilities:
Workload Management : Plan, manage, and report to the Chief Design Engineer on the design workload.
Technical Function Support : Assist in managing the technical function of the project, providing innovative and safest solutions.
Governance : Support the Chief Engineer and Technical Director in achieving best technical governance.
Technical Excellence : Aid the Technical Director in fostering technical excellence.
Design Strategy & Support : Contribute to the overall design strategy and workload management; support the delivery teams and provide expert technical input.
Temporary Works Design Service : Provide temporary works design services and ensure design risks are managed effectively.
Design Assurance : Conduct audits, lead design assurance, and share best practices across the project.
Stakeholder Relationships : Develop relationships with technical consultants, suppliers, and potential customers.
BIM Development : Promote the development of Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the design process.
Continuous Learning : Maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise in latest technologies and standards.
Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with Construction (Design and Management) regulations and manage costs and budget within your area.
Team Coordination : Distribute workloads across internal teams and external parties.
What Were Looking For:
Educational Background : Professional qualification (MICE or MIStructE) and a valid CSCS card.
Experience : Extensive experience in temporary works design and ground engineering, with a good understanding of structural and geotechnical software packages and BIM.
Skillset : Proficient in routine and complex geotechnical calculations and capable of carrying out design independently at CAT3/4 level.
Behavioural Competencies : Demonstrate humility, positivity, respect, solidarity, and clarity in all aspects of work.
Desirable Experience : Previous experience in the nuclear industry and within complex projects would be a plus.
