We are an established independent Optical practice in Battersea and we’re looking for a passionate, customer focused individual, to join our team, making a difference to our clinical and retail friendly practice.
As a Receptionist / Optical assistant, you will have great communication skills ensuring that every customer has a great experience when they come to us.
You will be calm, polite and have a professional mannerism.
You will provide great relaxed customer care, and always be happy to help, as each customer makes our business successful and ensure they receive the best Eyecare services with us. It means listening effectively and being able to give clear advice, either on the phone or face to face and make a positive impression.
The role:
• Reception/ Administration duties – Meeting and greeting patients/customers on
arrival, booking appointments, answering the telephone, filing records, data
management, opening post, posting, day to day maintenance of the practice
with other additional duties as needed and requested by branch manager.
You must be organized, with a good standard of education, spoken English
and have some computer knowledge.
Establishing eligibility for NHS services, and explaining charges.
• Performing pre-screening eye health checks- with training.
• Ensuring a smooth and friendly handover to the Optometrist.
• Dispensing glasses, frame styling and advising- with training provided from in
branch colleagues
• Assisting with the collections of spectacles, sensibly checking patient data,
fitting spectacles- with appropriate training.
• Collecting monies by different forms of payment and accurately recording
transactions.
• Repairing spectacles and doing frame adjustments, either on spectacle
collection or when required by clients.
• You will be timely and organised.
• Professional smart office dress code (no jeans or trainers, casual wear or mini
skirt or mini dresses .
We are a Non smoking environment.
• Contact lens collections and teaches (with training)
• Practice maintenance with cleaning of spectacle frames, worktop and frame
rods and glass shelves regularly, hoovering at the end of day.
• Working hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10am- 5.30pm
Saturday from 9.30am-5.00pm.
10 minutes tea break in the morning and 30 minutes lunch break.
mobile phone use in these times only during your personal break times unless
of emergency.
Closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
• Holidays: 28 days per annum – includes Bank holidays and Christmas week
Closure.
Full internal training and support will be provided leading to a full-time permanent contract, if successful, on review after 2 months probation period.( Management can decide to end the probation period sooner if candidate not suitable for the job before the end of the probation period)
External optical assistant courses are available and will be at the funded by the candidate only.
We do not have area for storage of bikes or scooters within our store.
