This rewarding position involves working as part of a team in Dundee and with other facilities and suppliers in the support, design, evaluation, and test of media handling devices used in self-service products such as ATMs (Auto-Teller Machines for the Banking Industry). A key requirement is to have 2-4 years' mechanical design experience with a keen interest in the design of electro/mechanical systems operating under S/W control.
* Support new and existing media handling products from a mechanical perspective
* Evaluate different technologies and provide recommendations with backup analysis
* Gain experience in the Design of Mechanisms, working with tooling suppliers and parts manufacture
* Delivering cost effective designs to specification and engineering standards
* Supplier engagement and change management
* Collaborate with Engineers from different disciplines
* Hold design reviews, stress analysis, assembly tolerances, testing and problem correction CLCA
* Release work products using the approved system with all relevant documentation required to implement your design change
A Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons 2:1 or better preferred).
* Working understanding of Mechanical design principles and technologies.
* Minimum of 2 years post-graduate related experience
* Technology awareness in the areas of:
* High speed, document feeding, transportation, sorting & stacking mechanisms.
* Autonomous, fault tolerant systems under the impact of climatic variations.
* Simulation/ FEA
* Clearly understand documentation and the ability to work solely on problems as well as within a team environment
* Strives to work to and set high work standards and be a good communicator
* Working CAD experience (ProE/Creo or Solidworks)
* An understanding of mechanical drive systems
* Understanding of plastic moulding, sheet metal fabrication design, parts manufacture and tooling.
* Drawing, dimensioning & tolerancing experience
* Stress and Tolerance analysis experience
* Mechanism design experience is an advantage
* Experience with assemblies containing PCBs/harnesses is an advantage.
* Experience with Rapid prototyping technologies
* Willing to travel, globally e.g. customer sites for support or analysis
