The Role Plan, prepare and teach 50% of a full timetable of Maths (and potentially Physics) across all age-ranges as directed by the Head of Department/Deputy Head (Academic). Be aware of the diverse needs within any given class and to differentiate lessons and resources accordingly. Understand and implement the aims and objectives of the School and the department, and to contribute to its vibrant and creative atmosphere. Regularly mark pupils work and engage in continual assessment of pupils progress, preparing lessons accordingly. Set and mark Private Study (homework) according to the timetable and in line with departmental policy. Maintain attractive displays of pupils work in the classroom. Provide feedback to parents in the form of grades, written reports and parents meetings as required by the School. To communicate efficiently with parents as required outside of the set reporting framework. Set high standards of professionalism and maintain best practice with regards to attendance and punctuality. Ensure that pupils are suitably prepared for entry to the appropriate public examinations, and to implement and review the curriculum to ensure that it meets the needs of the pupils. Be proficient in the use of IT and the Schools information systems, including Microsoft Office and CPOMS. Develop and manage up-to-date teaching and learning resources, including library and digital resources, and advise the Head of Department/Deputy Head (Academic) on course materials. Monitor and maintain high standards in the classroom environment and ensure that the department classrooms present a stimulating environment. Assist with the setting, marking and, where necessary, co-ordination of internal examinations in the department. Maintain and develop, with any other teachers of the subject, schemes of work within the requirements of the examination boards; monitor developments in curriculum requirements on a national scale and respond accordingly. Maintain sound discipline inside and outside the classroom, within the Schools agreed procedures. Ensure that the pupils work is regularly assessed that marks are recorded and that reports are written at appropriate times. Skills and Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status. Graduate or equivalent qualification. Evidence of continuing professional development. Successful teaching practice or experience teaching Maths to students aged 9-19. Up to date knowledge and understanding of the current educational issues. Proficient use of IT Knowledge of statutory curriculum, assessment, recording and reporting requirements for Maths. Effective teaching and learning styles. Understanding of teaching Maths/Physics to a high-quality standard. Knowledge of strategies for raising student attainment.
