Collections & House Officer - Cambridge Summary Are you someone who cares deeply about achieving high standards, and helping to make beauty and history accessible to all? We're looking for someone who can champion fantastic collections care and lead for preventive conservation in the house through the day-to-day supervision of conservation staff and volunteers, to deliver excellent standards of collections management. You'll be required to work regular weekends. We’re currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2025. Click here for more information about this location What you'll be doing You’ll supervise a team of staff and volunteers to implement preventive conservation and cleaning programmes in the house. You'll manage a large team of conservation volunteers and supervise a team of Collections Assistants, leading for excellent standards of collections care. You’ll work alongside the Senior Collections and House Officer in the planning and implementation of collections care and conservation, collaborating with internal and external consultants where appropriate. You'll be responsible for environmental monitoring in the house; using data from current measures to identify issues and inform better practices. You will ensure that the excellent standards of conservation and collections management are upheld in the house by supporting with routine conservation practices. Leading by example, you’ll ensure a culture of excellent customer care, engaging our visitors with conservation and the values of the National Trust. You'll be part of the duty management rota. As house duty manager, you'll be responsible for the daily operations of the house. This includes the day-to-day supervision of house experience volunteers, monitoring and responding to alarm activations, and dealing with general visitor enquiries during house opening hours.
