Demeter House is a family owned, friendly, independent SEND provision of 2 schools and we are looking for positive and enthusiastic teaching assistants to join our team, working at our Upper school Hestia site in Brigg with students aged 14-19.
We offer a great work/life balance and there are a number of benefits to joining our team:
1. Staff events throughout the year.
2. Supportive leadership team and friendly staff body.
3. Funded training opportunities.
4. Opportunities to make a real difference to the students and families we serve.
Our class sizes are small with no more than 6 students at any one time. Learning is personalised and our maximum ratio is 1:4.
You will be a Key Worker, with responsibility for up to 3 students, helping to create connections with families to improve their quality of life. You will benefit from a good level of resilience, team working skills and the ability to adapt quickly. We expect all staff to develop a good understanding of the students' needs in order to meet them at their point of understanding and enable them to make consistent progress towards their outcomes.
All students must have an EHCP to attend and all students exhibit some social, emotional or mental health challenges. We currently work with 7 different local authorities and we offer a wide range of curriculum subjects along with life skills and independent living courses and a variety of other opportunities for our students. Qualifications currently offered at KS4 and 5 include ASDAN, BTec, and Functional Skills courses. We also offer AQA Unit Awards, outdoor education and a range of enrichment activities for all students.
Candidates must hold qualifications in Maths and English at level 2 or above and be able to demonstrate good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Some experience of working with young people in an education setting would also be beneficial, although full induction and training will be given.
