What youll be doing:
This is a newly created role at an exciting time in the growing legal team.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, you will become a key part of the legal team providing advice on a wide range of matters across the group. You will have the opportunity to create your own relationships with different stakeholders in our sales, product, technology and operations teams as well as our Executive Team.
You’ll also work closely with the other support functions of the group: compliance, marketing, HR and finance to address current and emerging legal issues in a way that meets the group’s needs. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to switch from private practice or build on their existing in-house experience in a role where they can implement change and make an impact.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Supporting and working closely with General Counsel & Company Secretary on all aspects of the role
* Review, draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts including customer terms and conditions, framework agreements, supplier agreements and end user agreements
* Preparing template contracts
* Designing and implementing company policies and procedures
* Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
* Support on Mergers & Acquisitions both pre and post acquisition
* Instruct and manage a panel of external lawyers to provide support as necessary and efficiently and in a cost effective manner
* Support on UK GDPR matters
* Keep up-to-date with changes to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the business and specific industry and consider the impact to the business
* Provide legal assistance as and when required to meet the business needs
We want to hear from you if you:
* Are a qualified solicitor with relevant post qualification experience
* Have strong commercial and contract experience
* Have strong experience gained within an in-house team or within a private practice commercial, corporate or litigation team.
* Have excellent drafting skills and attention to detail
* Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Are able to interact with and advise employees at all levels within the business, and comfortable translating complicated legal concepts into easy-to-understand information
* Have the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Are able to work well in a team and independently
* Are a team player with a proactive and “can-do” attitude
