The Role of
Traffic Planner
We are looking to recruit an experienced and professional Traffic Planner at our Head Office in Fareham, Hampshire. Candidates must have the skills and competencies to successfully plan, schedule, and route the driver’s work and liaise with them during their working day, whilst providing an excellent customer service.
The role of Traffic Planner involves the following main key tasks:
1. preparing the driver’s daily work sheets
2. arranging daily driver allocation to vehicles suited to their abilities
3. ensuring vehicles are routed and operated effectively and efficiently
4. liaising with the depots to ensure stock levels of incoming and outgoing material/skips/ready mixed concrete are maintained, shipped, and delivered to customers on time and as efficiently as possible
5. communicating and liaising with the drivers throughout the working day
6. resolving any driver problems or queries as and when they arise
7. rescheduling work as necessary to cover driver absence or vehicle breakdowns
8. registering and arranging delivery/collection of asbestos related jobs
9. implementing the Tructyre/Service Centre Wheel Removal process
10. following the weekly maintenance instructions from the Transport department to ensure ‘O’ licence compliance
11. maintaining control of the outstanding container report (ie contact cash customers who have had a container for over 2 weeks to arrange collection)
12. dealing with any customer queries or problems
13. taking and processing customer orders on the ISYS/Weighsoft system
14. liaising with the Sales Advisors, Sales Office Manager, Transport & Plant Manager, Assistant Transport Manager, Driver Foremen/Trainers, and Operations Managers
15. ensuring the traffic office operation is run efficiently and effectively
16. ensuring compliance with all current and impending legislation
17. general office administration and supporting other members of the team.
The Ideal Traffic Planner
18. excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manner – being friendly, polite, and professional at all times
19. good geographical knowledge and understanding of the routing process
20. good attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information
21. good organisation, communication, and IT skills
22. ability to multi-task and use own initiative
23. working knowledge of ISYS/Weighsoft or a similar system
24. experience of working within a busy and fast paced environment
25. ability to remain calm and patient when under pressure
26. reliable, flexible and adaptable
27. positive, motivated, conscientious, and pro-active.
Reward
28. Salary £37,711 pa
29. 25 days holiday, plus 8 bank holidays in a full holiday year (calculated on a pro rata basis), increasing to 27 days holiday plus bank holidays after 5 years’ service, and to 30 days holiday plus bank holidays after 10 years’ service
