We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work at our Mulberry Ward at Farnham Road Hospital. This post is for a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist as part of the Acute Care Pathway.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical input and leadership to a proportion of the inpatients in Mulberry Ward, and there are other opportunities to take on additional responsibilities with remuneration. The consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for providing clinical input and leadership and working alongside a multidisciplinary team in line with New Ways of Working.
It is expected that the appointed candidate will work closely with the home treatment and community teams to ensure effective and efficient pathways and care for patients. The successful candidate will provide Consultant Psychiatrist input and be the Responsible clinician for the 15 bedded Mulberry Ward, mainly serving the population aligned to the ward with additional support from other medical staff, Trainees, and Multidisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to the ward per the agreed Acute Service Operational Policy.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full medical registration with a license to practice.
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent.
* A recognised basic Medical Degree and MRCPsych or equivalent.
* Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills.
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
* In good standing with GMC concerning warnings and conditions on practice.
* Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within three months of appointment.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice.
* Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review (High-Quality Care for All).
* Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
* Specific training qualification/certificate or attendance on a recognised teaching course.
Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning
* Ability to take a clinical leadership role in a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality care.
* Ability to appraise own performance as a Specialty Doctor and reflect on development needs.
* Ability to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post.
* Reflected on the purpose of CPD undertaken.
