Job Description
Aureos are seeking an Environmental Advisor to join our growing energy team in Bathgate. The role is to support the refurbishment and rebuild of overhead powerlines across voltages ranging from LV to 33kV. Underground cabling undertaken as part of Looped Services operations is also a core component of works.
Location
Bathgate office, with the very occasional need for overnight stays away from home when visiting projects in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Projects in need of support are in Scotland and the north of England.
Day to day tasks will include
1. Co-ordinate pre-construction environmental assessments (e.g. ecology surveys, archaeology surveys) and advise on the programming of works in relation to constraints observed.
2. Manage waste records used to populate Aureos and client decarbonisation tools.
3. Co-ordinate the acquisition of permits from environmental regulators (e.g. waste management licences for yards).
4. On rebuild OHL projects, support project teams to discharge Section 37 planning conditions.
5. Conduct inspections of active work zones, and audits of key environmental documentation.
6. Support delivery of business wide sustainability targets.
Qualifications and Training
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
1. An Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or a related field, preferably a post graduate qualification, coupled with experience in a relevant industry (e.g. infrastructure, environmental/planning/statutory body/consultancy dealing with major consenting projects).
2. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
3. Applicable CSCS Card.
Knowledge
1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in an environmental focussed role, preferably in the infrastructure sector.
2. In-depth knowledge of UK wide environmental regulations, standards, and best practices. Experience in the electrical utilities industry is desirable.
3. Proven experience in conducting environmental assessments and developing management plans to help discharge conditions of planning consents.
Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to multiple projects simultaneously.
2. Where projects are located in remote locations, such as in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, occasional overnight stays away from home may be necessary.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
4. IT literate and a comprehensive understanding of Windows based programmes to include Word, Excel and Outlook. Capability to produce maps using QGIS would be an advantage.
