Finance Director Bristol Cathedral Hybrid role 3 days a week with minimum two days in the office (to include Monday) Bristol Centre £30,000 (£50,000 FTE) benefits and free onsite parking Bristol Cathedral is open 365 days per year and welcomes over 300,000 visitors annually. Visitors come to them for many reasons including worship, a quiet space, community and cultural events as well as gathering to mark significant events most recently the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. They have around 40 staff in total and a committed community of volunteers and congregation. You might imagine that working in a Cathedral is quiet and a bit sedate. This couldnt be further from the truth. While there are moments when you can experience the peace of the building or finish your week in quiet reflection at evensong on a Friday the life of the Cathedral is busy and varied. There arent many days that are the same as the one before. Bristol Cathedral are seeking a part time Finance Director to provide strategic financial leadership across Bristol Cathedral (including their trading subsidiary Bristol Cathedral Enterprises Ltd). You will be responsible for Providing strategic financial leadership across the organisation Working with the Canon Treasurer (Chair of the Finance Committee) and COO to lead the development of the Cathedrals financial strategy, annual budget and long-term planning Be a part of the Senior Management Group taking a leadership role across the whole of the organisation. Oversee the preparation of year-end reports and financial statements for Bristol Cathedral and Bristol Cathedral Enterprises Ltd. Oversight of the various requirement of HMRC, including VAT, PAYE, and NI. Ensure effective financial controls are in place. Ensuring there are robust and effective financial reporting processes and systems in place so that Managers, Senior Leaders and Trustees are able to make effective decisions Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations and all relevant legal frameworks. You will also be involved in Governance, Property transactions and Safeguarding. Ideally, you will need to be ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA qualified ( or equivalent) and have experience of leading a busy finance department, preparing statutory financial statements and strategic financial planning and business planning. The ideal candidate would also have experience of working with the charity sector and of managing property assets, but this is not essential.
