Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified Electrical/ mechanical Engineer for maintenance operations for a site-based facility management contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical/mechanical systems, providing technical expertise, working with a team of engineers. The role requires a thorough understanding of electrical regulations in the UK, including specific qualifications for high voltage (HV) supervision. A full clean driver's license is essential as an electric van will be provided for on-site duties.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Management:
· Responsible for electrical/ mechanical maintenance activities, including inspections, testing, PPMs and repairs, to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
· Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize the performance of electrical/mechanical systems.
· Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical faults and provide timely resolution to minimize disruptions to operations.
2. HV Supervision:
· Provide high voltage (HV) supervision and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations during installation, maintenance, and repair of HV equipment.
· Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to mitigate hazards associated with HV systems.
· Train and mentor junior engineers on HV procedures and safe working practices.
Technical Expertise:
· Utilize technical knowledge and expertise to evaluate the condition of electrical / mechanical systems, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and reliability.
· Keep abreast of industry trends, advancements in technology, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
Qualifications:
· Electrical qualification recognized in the UK (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HNC, HND) with demonstrable experience in electrical engineering.
· Specific qualifications for HV supervision (e.g., HV Authorised Person certification) are essential.
· Proven experience in an electrical / mechanical engineering field, preferably in a facilities management or similar environment.
· Thorough understanding of UK electrical regulations and standards (e.g., BS 7671) with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.
· Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex electrical / mechanical systems and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
· Valid full clean driver's license is mandatory as an electric van will be provided for on-site duties.
