Their South West business unit have a healthy pipeline of work and recently secured a number of infrastructure schemes in Exeter and are therefore in need of additional resource and looking to appoint an experienced and proactive Design Manager to join their team. The Job: As the appointed Design Manager you’ll play a vital role within the senior project team being responsible for the design function and team on live Projects. The role will also involve supporting the Work Winning Department on tenders to help secure more projects. Day to day duties will include: Co-ordinating the design of a range of projects within Civil Engineering Managing the designs from tender stage through to the completion of construction Produce cost-effective design solutions to the project team Create and implement value engineering principles to ensure best value Have an understanding of site management practices, interface management, risks, costs and co-ordination. The person: To succeed in this job you will have a proven track record of undertaking design management activities at both tender and construction stages. This experience will include working on contracts principally across the Civil Engineering and Water Projects. As this role is working for a Civil Engineering Main Contractor its also vital that you have previous experience of working for a Contractor ideally as a Site Engineering or from Project Management. Technical specifications and required qualifications: Degree qualified in a relevant construction subject. Professionally qualified e.g. C.Eng or MCIOB Competent user of MS packages e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word. Well-developed Technical Construction knowledge.
