Are you looking to work in a busy and developing environment of Theatres?
We are currently looking to recruit preoperative support workers on both full-time and part-time contracts to work within the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust elective site, Castle Hill Hospital, supporting predominantly the further phased opening of the new Day Surgery build.
The trust is currently building a new stand-alone dedicated Day Surgery Centre within the Castle Hill grounds in order to improve facilities, expand day surgery provision, and reduce the number of inpatients across all sites. As part of the build and its phased opening, an additional 4 theatres are being commissioned and due for completion in October 2024. Upon completion, the Centre will comprise 12 operating theatres and will be a regional centre of excellence.
We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate a dynamic approach to their work and who have commitment, drive, and enthusiasm – you will be encouraged to work as part of a strong team and become involved in developing your own service.
As a preoperative support worker, you will need to be prepared to work within a busy environment, and we do expect staff to be flexible in their approach to cover for other specialties once trained. As a teaching hospital, applicants should have a motivating approach to teaching more junior members of staff.
Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa, and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.
The role will include tasks such as collecting/returning patients to and from the ward, supporting registered staff with patient care, administrative tasks, reception duties, and completing patient documentation.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential.
Individuals must have a flexible attitude to working patterns to meet the service needs. There are various shift patterns covering the 24/7 period – although predominantly the work is during the day, there is a requirement to participate in night and weekend working to cover acute service or the potential for weekend and on-call provision for the elective site services.
