Introduction
BBC Arabic provides news, current affairs and programmes on TV and Digital platforms to Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East and across the world, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
The output is modern in style and outlook and adheres to BBC values of accuracy and impartiality. It has broad appeal, free from commercial, political and religious affiliations or pressures.
We are looking for a Senior Journalist to act as a Text Producer to support TV visual operation in the gallery and the newsroom by producing headlines, live text (ticker and Breaking News straps), push backs and other production/visuals as required.
Main responsibilities
You will be responsible for originating and producing stories which may include scripting, editing, outputting, filming and presenting content across a range of BBC output as well as:
1. Commission and select relevant materials ensuring they meet expectations of our audiences and adhere to the BBC's editorial guidelines.
2. May be required to undertake on-air reporting, may be required to film and edit material for broadcast where appropriate.
3. May include the production and presentation of live or recorded programmes.
4. May be required to present live or recorded content on radio, TV or online.
5. As required, to allocate work to a team and check progress; ensure the professional contribution of staff and the quality of output.
6. Seek ways to increase diversity in our workforce and to ensure that our output reflects the audiences we serve.
7. Deliver journalism of the highest standard and within the required timeframe using available resources.
8. To act as a facilitator of change, clearly communicating and distributing best practices between teams.
9. Delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
10. At all times to carry out duties in accordance with the BBC health and safety policy.
Are you the right candidate?
Strong Editorial background/judgement and excellent knowledge of Middle Eastern and international stories.
Strong summarising skills and ability to extract the most important parts of what is being said.
Evidence of previous journalistic experience in the TV industry and mastering new technology.
High level of concentration and the ability to keep high quality work and accuracy under pressure and breaking news.
Mastering Arabic classical language and its grammar and ability to write on-air scripts mistake-free.
Advanced English language level, including complete comprehension of written and spoken English and the ability to translate and communicate effectively.
The ability to write TV headlines.

Salary: between £40,000 - £50,000 (plus London weighting) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
