Job type: 36 hr per week & 30 hr per week (Day and Night shifts)
Pembroke House is a purpose-built care home for veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines in Gillingham, Kent that was converted from an orphanage in 1952. We have been serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans and their dependants for over 70 years. Our residents and staff enjoy a varied yet familiar way of life to encourage independence and give each day meaning and purpose. It has a ‘family-run’ feel and we have carefully created a supportive, friendly and close-knit team making it a unique and very special place to work.
The Job Role
We are now recruiting for carers to join the care team at Pembroke House. To provide care for former Naval, Royal Marines and WRNS veterans in this unique care home.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences enhance their wellbeing.
* Contribute to the efficient running of the home.
* Support residents to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community.
* Ensure Care Plans and other information about how to support residents are followed.
* Inform the Senior Carer/Nurse of any changes in the needs of the resident.
* Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust – Pembroke House.
* Work in cooperation with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for the residents.
* If desired by the resident, maintain and develop relationships with family, friends and other people important in their life.
The Person
This role would suit someone who is naturally dependable, compassionate, and trustworthy. They should be able to empathise with the needs of the residents, have patience and understanding and above all be kind and caring.
