Kerry Collins Recruitment Ltd are pleased to be supporting our well-established client recruit for experienced Butchers on a permanent basis. Our Wolverhampton based client are known in the industry for being an excellent provider of premium quality food products, operating from a state-of-the-art abattoir and meat processing facility. They are looking for skilled and experienced Butchers to join the existing team, where you will be responsible for delivering various cuts of meat, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Skilfully and precisely cut various meat cuts following established cutting and portioning guidelines.
2. Utilise a variety of knives and cutting equipment safely and efficiently to maximize meat yield while minimising waste.
3. Inspect all meat products for quality, ensuring that only top-quality cuts are packaged for distribution.
4. Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
5. Assist in monitoring meat inventory levels, report any shortages, and ensure proper rotation of products to minimise waste.
6. Maintain and clean cutting equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure they meet sanitation and safety standards.
7. Work collaboratively with other team members, including Slaughtermen, Packers, and Quality Control staff, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Skills required:
8. Proven experience as a Butcher within a meat processing facility or similar environment.
9. Strong knowledge of meat cuts and butchering techniques.
10. Familiarity with food safety regulations and principles
11. Proficiency in using cutting tools and equipment.
12. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
The role of a Butcher is physically demanding, and you must be able to lift heavy products, comfortable working in a cold and wet environment.
