This role covers Trowbridge, Wiltshire, involving community-based and site-based work in clinical settings.
Working with clients, health professionals, service providers, and employers, IPS Employment Specialists focus on facilitating a person's journey into employment, enhancing social inclusion and wellbeing. You will manage a caseload of clients with mental health support needs, assisting them in securing sustainable paid employment aligned with their preferences. Training for the IPS approach will be provided; your role includes offering person-centered advice and building relationships with local employers to support clients into suitable roles.
The Role
You will support individuals throughout their employment journey, from vocational profiling to independence from face-to-face support. The key stages include outreach/referral, vocational profiling, action planning, job search, job placement, in-work support, and withdrawal of support when appropriate.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of approximately 20 clients with mental health needs motivated to work.
* Deliver the IPS approach; training will be provided.
* Support clients in understanding their skills and goals, creating vocational profiles and action plans to secure and maintain employment. Assist with job searching, CVs, applications, interview techniques, and career development.
* Assess support needs related to work, including benefits, welfare, and mental health disclosure, providing appropriate guidance.
* Participate in weekly clinical team meetings as an embedded IPS practitioner.
* Source job opportunities through tailored searches and liaise with local employers to find both advertised and hidden opportunities.
* Educate and support employers, including negotiating adjustments and return-to-work strategies, maintaining ongoing contact to ensure job retention.
* Build collaborative relationships with clinical teams to generate referrals and promote employment as part of recovery.
* After securing employment, continue providing support through regular visits and monitoring to sustain employment.
* Engage with local employers to negotiate job opportunities tailored to individual strengths and needs.
* Address inequalities and discrimination, fostering organizational learning.
* Work with employers to promote the service, identify opportunities, and implement strategies like 'job carving' to reduce workplace barriers.
Required Skills and Experience
* Experience or understanding of working with individuals with mental health needs or similar client groups within health, social services, or voluntary sectors.
* Experience of working one-to-one with clients.
* Proven success in meeting or exceeding outcomes and targets.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Experience influencing decision-makers assertively.
* Support experience in helping clients obtain or retain employment.
* Experience working within mental health services.
* Previous experience delivering services using the IPS model.
