Job summary The Trainee ACCP will work in the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit (CTCCU) undertaking practical assessments in the workplace and theoretical work at University. The two years supernumerary training would include a study day per week. On completion of training, you will apply to become an ACCP Member of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM), and work as part of the medical workforce in the CTCCU. It is expected that the full MSc will be completed in the third year alongside clinical practice. The trainee ACCP will follow the FICM curriculum and develop proficiency across the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice, namely Clinical, Leadership and Management, Education and Research. Continued employment and transition into a qualified ACCP post is dependent on successful completion of training. The post holder will transition to Band 8a when FICM membership and full MSc ACCP is achieved, usually 3-years from initiation of training. Main duties of the job The Trainee ACCP will provide clinical management and care to patients requiring level 1-3 care in a role traditionally performed by medical staff. During training a high level of clinical judgement and decision making needs to be developed and achieved.
