Our client is a Private Equity backed, international business which, over the years, has enjoyed impressive levels of growth and developed as a leader in their sector. Since Covid/Lockdown, through a combination of strong leadership and a solid business model they have emerged stronger than ever with significant levels of growth expected each year for the foreseeable future.
They have new PE backers, that are supportive, encouraging, keen to invest in technology, change and growth, with the aim of seizing the enormous potential that exists in their marketplace. In support of this, they seek to appoint a high calibre Finance Business Partner. With unprecedented levels of growth expected, it is more important than ever that operations have the financial insight to support decision making. This role, with the support of an analyst, will be fully responsible for the budgeting and forecasting processes and for driving ever greater business partnering.
This role is new, with a broad remit across Financial Planning and Analysis - you will take a proactive role in managing and shaping the way in which Finance supports the business.
The company is leading within a specialist and evolving sector, but, as a model, it includes stock holding, international logistics and sales, marketing, brand partnerships etc, all in high volume!
Responsibilities:
Annual budget / 3 year business plan / quarterly reforecasting:
* Full ownership of input assumptions, models and output for P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
* Working with stakeholders across the business to agree assumptions, providing robust challenge and analysis where required
* Periodic review of actual performance versus budget/3 year plan/forecast to analyse variances and update assumptions in models where applicable
* Support Head of FP&A in developing best practice models and reporting for all planning and forecasting activities and seek to continually improve processes and output through our FP&A software (Vena)
* Support Head of FP&A with ad hoc forecasting and planning for key strategic and tactical initiatives
Reporting:
* Ownership of weekly Executive Board reporting pack
* Ownership of FP&A contributions to monthly management accounts reporting pack
* Support Head of FP&A in ongoing development and improving analytical content of weekly and monthly Board reporting
* Creation of monthly reporting for stakeholders across the business
Analysis:
* Monthly ROCE analysis versus budget and 3 year plan
* Periodic profitability and analysis of existing profit centres based on current and future forecast performance
* Ad hoc commercial analysis as required to identify areas of improvement, evaluation of potential opportunities and similar
* Support Head of FP&A in developing better insight and reporting into stock
* Ownership of investment appraisal models for new business opportunities
* Implement process for post-investment appraisal analysis / tracking
Business Partnering:
* Support Head of FP&A in embedding business partnering approach and culture throughout the business by:
* Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with senior managers and their teams
* Improving the impact and understanding of financial reporting on business performance
* Providing analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies
* Providing effective commercial procedures, or initiating change, to ensure key commercial and financial targets are delivered
