An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated children's nurse to come and join our Children's nursing team In Croydon as an Epilepsy Nurse Specialist.
Working alongside our existing Epilepsy Nurse Specialist this role will provide care, support, advice and education in primary and community caresettings including hospital/community clinics, home and schools for children and young people with a diagnosis of epilepsy.
You will act as an expert resource for children and parents/carers with a diagnosis of epilepsy, working alongside families and colleagues to improve the management of their long term condition.
Interview - 14th of January 2025
• To work in collaboration with professionals in community, primary and secondary settings to ensure case identification and referral to the service offering children and young people with an epilepsy diagnosis ongoing care.
• To work jointly within the MDT to facilitate both hospital and community clinics, ensuring children and young people with epilepsy are managed effectively.
• To work with families from when an epilepsy diagnosis is made – supporting with giving lots of complex information regarding the diagnosis, supporting them to come to terms with diagnosis, answering questions. This may mean working with families with language or learning difficulties and involve communicating face to face or by telephone.
• To maintain and monitor policies and procedures for written and verbal communication and referral to appropriate agencies.
• To manage transition for young people with epilepsy and their carers into adult services.
• Develop working relationships with GPs and pharmacists for on-going support with medication usage and adherence.
