Job Description Junior Programme Manager Reporting of the R ole This role reports to the Director or Product, Global Player Overview of job The junior programme manager will oversee, coordinate and report on the various projects, products and strategic initiatives the Global Player team are responsible for. Global Player allows listeners to enjoy all of Global’s radio brands, award-winning podcasts, and expertly curated playlists, in one place in app, on web, on TV, in car and on smart speakers. You will be responsible for building effective relationships with Product, Engineering and other stakeholders across our 9 cross-functional squads, tracking progress, managing risks and dependancies, as well as coordinating releases. You will report progress to senior stakeholders including the Director of Product, Director of Engineering and Chief Digital Product Officer. 3 best things about the job You'll be instrumental in the delivery of the roadmap for one of the most exciting D2C products in the media and entertainment market in the UK You'll build relationships and work with stakeholders across the business You'll work with some of the latest technologies including in-car, smart speakers and AI Measures of success – In the first few months, you would have Understood the goals of the Global Player team and how these support Global’s wider strategy and objectives Understood the long-term strategic plans, in-flight projects and current roadmap for Global Player Gained a robust understanding of the operations of the business function(s) and supporting product(s) you will be working with Built effective working relationships and established clear processes and ways of working with the Global Player squads’ Responsibilities of the role Understand the strategic priorities and core roadmap items for Global Player; input into allocation of internal and third-party resources for the Global Player squads accordingly Work alongside the Product Owners and Tech Leads across the Global Player squads to understand the ‘what and how’ of the product roadmap Facilitate creation of the plan (the ‘when’) for the squads and manage its execution Mitigate risks and pre-empt and resolve issues to ensure execution of the plan is on time and to budget; exercise sound judgement to judge the materiality of issues – which can be resolved within the squad(s) vs. which need escalation Communicate clear summaries of progress against baseline plans and any changes, including root cause explanations, to other Technology & Digital stakeholders and to senior business stakeholders as needed Manage your time accordingly to manage ‘down’ with an individual squad when needed, ‘across’ multiple squads and ‘up’ to senior stakeholders Champion good delivery processes, identifying the most appropriate model(s) for delivery and suggesting improvements Contribute to a high-performance culture across the Global Player team, with a clear sense of accountability for outcomes; celebrate success and learn from failures Track, understand and communicate changes in team throughput and performance using metrics Contribute meaningfully to the effective running of the Global Player team, and support the Digital senior leadership team as needed What you will need A proven ability to coordinate high-profile product roadmaps and initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment – ideally a scale-up or a forward-thinking broadcaster or media & entertainment company Experience working across mobile apps and web, comfortable getting into detail and having thorough conversations with Product and Engineering counterparts An eye for detail and a willingness to understand the business context and technical content you are working with Experience in creating project plans and delivering product roadmaps Strong working knowledge of software development practices and release lifecycles An understanding of software delivery methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum, Kanban) balanced with an adaptability to apply the right approach for the right situation A persistent focus on outcomes and business value A strong ability to prioritise tasks based on importance and urgency; to ignore ‘noise’ and focus on what matters most A keen ability to identify and resolve blockers and issues A keen ability to rapidly digest information, spot trends and identify dependencies Strong problem-solving skills, applying both analytical and creative techniques High emotional intelligence and an ability to adapt your style as needed Effective communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing, ensuring squad members and other stakeholders are clear and seeking clarification where necessary An ability to adapt messaging for different audiences; being comfortable in the detail but also able to summarise pertinent information for senior stakeholders Effective facilitation skills to provide direction, and maintain focus and momentum You’ll be someone who….
