This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Department of Creative Industries, within the School of Digital Technology Innovation and Business. As an experienced or aspiring manager and highly capable academic, your industry practice/research experience will inform your work in leading the Department. You will have an inclusive management style and will be able to motivate and support your colleagues and students. You will be leading an experienced team of well-motivated and capable colleagues to deliver an excellent student experience and grow income streams from research and enterprise. We are seeking an academic with an ability to manage budgets and use business intelligence to ensure our ambitious targets are delivered within budget and in a timely manner. Your understanding of the wider HE landscape will support the Department to identify new opportunities and partners to support ambitious growth targets. Alongside managing the Department, as a well-rounded academic who excels in a Creative Industries subject, you will develop your academic standing through excellence in teaching, research, enterprise and professional engagement. As a member of the School Management Team, you will make a positive contribution to leadership within the school, supporting colleagues to deliver our strategic vision. You will have a clear vision for academic excellence and industry relevance, a keen eye for developments and opportunities across a range of academic fields, and an enthusiasm for collaboration across a connected curriculum. You will be confident in representing the Department to potential external partners and stakeholders. Main Responsibilities The main responsibilities for our Head of Creative Industries will be to:
* To be responsible for the overall effective co-ordination, leadership, management and development of a large group of subject based staff and their contribution to a full range of learning and teaching, research, enterprise, scholarship, professional accreditation, quality, employability and partnership activity across the subject area.
* To develop a strong and distinctive subject group identity and profile within the School, University more widely and externally which underpins and supports the strategic direction of the School.
* To provide strong leadership of staff within the designated subject-based group, supporting the management, academic leadership, and strategic direction of the School and University.
* To provide academic leadership to the subject area including the evaluation of the portfolio, and individual awards, and their constituent modules.
* To lead and manage the interrelationships and requirements of accrediting and professional bodies related to the subject area
* To lead on the implementation of cross-disciplinary projects and quality assurance and enhancement activities within the subject area.
