A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our friendly team at Fernhill Court as a Positive Behaviour Support Lead on a one year fixed term contract.
Fernhill Court is a large service where we support up to eighteen adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, some of whom display behaviours that challenge.
Every individual has their own self-contained flat, there are also communal areas where everyone can get together and socialise, as well as a large garden for summer activities.
You will be solely working in one service, supporting the management team to implement and imbed positive behaviour plans and strategies to the people we support on a daily basis.
You will support the staff team to create a positive culture, leading by example, making positive changes and transforming lives of the people we support.
The post holder will use their expertise to support in the following areas:
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Planning
PBS implementation (including practice workshops)
Promotion of Active Support and total communication approaches
Training & development of staff
Functional Behaviour Assessment
The ideal candidate will:
Have minimum Level 3 PBS or Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
Be experienced working with behaviours that challenge in a Supported Living or Residential setting.
Have experience working with people with Learning Disabilities or Mental Health.
Be a team player, wanting to promote positive change in service
Be flexible with working hours, there may be some weekend, early morning and evening work involved.
Responsibilities:
To support and signpost where needed for specialist assessment, advice, and support for people we support, staff and families working in collaboration with the service management team.
Work with Support Workers and Service Managers to assess needs and make appropriate recommendations to enhance the quality of life for the people we support, ensuring each individual is supported to maximise their opportunities for dignity, personal choice, positive risk-taking, greater independence, and control over their lives.
Promote and role model the principles of Active Support, enabling people we support to be engaged in meaningful activity, maximise choice and control and develop their independence in everyday and community-based activities.
Support the Service to develop Sensory Spaces to enhance the sensory needs and experiences of people we support
Ensure sustainability of practice through service level training, and coaching and mentoring including carrying out S&D meetings with support staff as deemed appropriate and in agreement with the service manager
Support services to engage in local initiatives, projects and pathways including referrals to local Learning Disability Teams and other specialists as appropriate.
