Projects our team designs and manufactures for include: The Pharos Architectural Control range of lighting control products used in theme parks and architectural installations worldwide The Martin Professional P3 LED Video Wall processors The industry-leading Brompton Technology control and processing solution for video walls used in concerts, award shows and television. Job Summary Carallon offers a handful of internships each summer, offering candidates the opportunity to develop their skills and experience in real-world engineering within a world-class professional team. Many of our former interns have also gone on to start their graduate careers with us. We receive many applications for each internship every year. So that they may complete a meaningful project within a relatively short period, we usually favour candidates who can already demonstrate some competence in their chosen discipline (e.g. PCB design, C++ coding, etc). Internships are offered in the following sub-departments: Application software (C++) Embedded software (C/C++, Embedded Linux, RTOS) Electronics (PCB Design, Testing, Debugging) Quality Assurance (Automated testing, Python) Dev Ops (Build Systems, web and Python development) Fixture database (XML data definitions and Python tooling) Summer interns work on designated projects in their respective team with the aim of completing a meaningful piece of real work with an 8 to 12-week placement. Usually, the completed project is used in a shipped product or as part of Carallon’s own internal engineering and test framework. Recent examples of successful projects include: Python scripts to automate fixture personality modifications and improvements A development board to test DALI protocol controllers at scale Manufacturing tools for production testing of client products We offer a very friendly, flexible and supportive working environment. Key Responsibilities Understanding project requirements scope and expected deliverables Working independently to understand code and solve problems under guidance Essential Qualifications Excellent verbal and written communication skills Current course attendance in an engineering-related discipline at a Russell Group or equivalent university Strong academic achievement in A-levels and university examinations to date Demonstrable interest/achievement in the chosen discipline beyond immediate university coursework, for example through hobby projects or similar interests. An ability to show or discuss a personal project, github archive, or similar. Desirable Extras Interested in any aspect of theatre/live performance (for example dramatic society membership) Interest in or experience working with video or lighting products for live entertainment
