UKRI has an established and growing apprenticeship programme, utilising a variety of apprenticeships to provide opportunities for new recruits and existing employees. Based within UKRI’s Talent Centre of Expertise, we have an opportunity for an individual to support our current and developing apprenticeship offer. In this key role you will support elements of the apprenticeship schemes across UKRI. We currently have c. 250 apprentices across UKRI including its Centres and Institutes and we have ambitious plans.
Working closely with the Senior Apprenticeship Coordinator, you will provide support, advice and guidance to UKRI’s managers and apprentices and support a range of projects to deliver and develop the current apprenticeship schemes.

Summary of Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Apprenticeship expertise:
2. Provide apprenticeship advice, guidance and support to managers and supervisors across UKRI as part of the apprenticeship programme
3. Work with subject matter experts in the organisation to coordinate the technical quality and delivery of apprenticeship training
4. Work with the Early Careers Resourcing Team to support and coordinate apprenticeship recruitment campaigns, engaging candidates and participating in selection panels as required
1. Project delivery:
2. Support the UKRI Senior Apprenticeship Coordinator and UKRI Head of Talent to develop and deliver a range of projects.
3. Support with sourcing and procuring enhanced development opportunities for apprentices, working with UKRI’s Leadership & Learning colleagues and external providers as appropriate
4. Support with harmonising the apprenticeship scheme core offering
5. Support with the development and roll-out of internal apprenticeship programmes, including its Leadership & Management schemes and other schemes in development
6. Collaborate across the talent team to support the external awareness of UKRI Apprentice schemes
1. Day-to-day delivery of apprenticeship programme:
2. Provide advice, guidance and pastoral support to apprentices
3. Retain an overview of apprentice progression and employment throughout the apprenticeship period
4. Coordinate apprenticeship programmes to ensure they are fit for purpose; liaise with apprentices, assessors and training providers as appropriate. Sign-post to other training/routes when appropriate
5. Maintain management information for accurate and timely reporting of apprenticeship data, including numbers on programme, projected end dates, EPA performance and supporting with the development of improved levy forecasting tools
Our Apprenticeship Coordinators come to us with diverse skills developed in previous roles including apprenticeships, local authority, education and HR. You may have formally or informally line managed or supervised those in their early careers; have delivered Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) or have experience in a mentoring role. We are looking for passionate people to support our apprentices and the organisation across its many diverse activities.

Essential:
1. Knowledge and understanding of UK apprenticeships – including ESFA funding regulations, apprenticeship standards and relevant policies (S&I)
2. Strong organisational skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail (S&I)
3. Strong influencing skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships (S&I)
4. Ability to simplify and convey complex information to a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders (S&I)
5. Self-starter with an ability to work independently (S&I)
6. Confident and proficient using Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams (S&I)
7. The ability to travel nationally when required, including occasional overnight stays (I)
8. Project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects (S & I)
Desirable:
1. Knowledge and understanding of apprenticeship delivery in the devolved nations (S&I)
2. Experience of managing/supporting apprentices and/or those early in their careers, either formally or informally (S&I)
3. Experience of pastoral support (S&I)
