On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a PCB Design Engineer on an initial 6-month contract. As the PCB Design Engineer, you will join our Modems and Software Defined Radio group and report to the Engineering Manager of the project, delivering a new product to the UK MOD. You will have knowledge of designing mixed RF and digital circuits.
Role: PCB Design Engineer
Pay: £60 per hour Via Umbrella
Location: Portsmouth - 3 days onsite per week
Contract: Monday - Friday 37 hours per week, 12 months
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: Security Clearance required on submission
Responsibilities
1. Update of existing and generation of new schematic design and circuit board layout design for both digital and RF circuit boards in Mentor Graphics.
2. Applicants should have a broad range of experience with mixed-signal electronics design (RF/analogue up to 2 GHz and digital up to 3 Gbps).
3. Design of circuits to meet harsh environmental and EMC standards.
4. Testing and diagnosis of the resulting circuit boards in the final installation.
Essential Skills
1. HND or Bachelor of Engineering and typically 5+ years of professional experience.
2. Experience of using high level modelling languages (e.g. SysML, UML).
3. Familiarity of using agile methodologies in delivery is desirable.
4. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Experience in designing to meet CE/UKCA, DO-160 and Mil-Std 810 environmental standards.
6. A background knowledge in the use of system test hardware, for both RF and baseband diagnosis.
7. A background knowledge/interest of satellite communication systems/industry or Modem technology.
