My client, a prestigious fire engineering consultancy, are currently in the market for Fire Engineers at all levels UK wide.
A Fire Engineer is a key role within their company as they can provide specialist fire-related information for various projects across the built environment, from their sound understanding of legislation and relevant specialist fire safety guidance and codes of practice. A Fire Engineer:
1. Uses professional judgement and fire engineering knowledge to justify and apply guidance, or accept departures from recognised guidance documents;
2. Is able to use mathematical and scientific skills to measure and evaluate risks from fire to people, structures and the environment to achieve the expected standard of fire safety and comply with the client’s objectives;
3. Will be a key member of their team of engineers and will have good communication skills to create, maintain, and enhance productive working relationships internally with peers and clients.
This allows Fire Engineers to work with key stakeholders through all project stages, from bidding, design development, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and modification of existing buildings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead small-medium projects as the Project Engineer with support from the Project Manager.
2. Develop your knowledge base in fire design and engineering.
3. Develop knowledge in Detailed Technical/Tender Design and Construction work packages, site visits during construction as well as site surveys of existing buildings.
4. Practice/apply fire strategies & technical engineering reports.
5. Practice project management skills.
6. Robust skill set in digital working and quality management.
7. Develop your technical abilities and contribute to technical excellence in your region.
8. Work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK and globally, involving various building types.
9. Practice/apply fire design and assurance services during construction.
10. Engage directly with clients.
11. Provide consultancy services that focus on successful outcomes for our clients in an ethical manner.
Preferred but not essential
1. Demonstrate knowledge in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling and analysis for smoke movement.
2. Have knowledge of additional computer modelling software, such as CFAST, Pyrosim and Pathfinder, to provide alternative fire engineering solutions.
Requirements
1. An Engineering Council accredited BEng Hons.
2. Associate Member of IFE.
3. Experience in developing fire engineering deliverables for UK or ROI-based projects.
4. Be aware of appropriate legislation and design guidance for use in the UK or ROI.
