Job Overview: Applications are invited for the position of Locum Consultant in Emergency Medicine. This is a fixed-term post of 1 year to cover maternity leave. The post will be based in the Emergency Department at Hull Royal Infirmary, part of the NHS Humber Health Partnership. The NHS Humber Health Partnership has an annual budget of circa £1.4 billion, employs over 17,000 staff, and sees well over 1 million patients/year with around 275,000 attendances at the Emergency Departments.
Main Duties of the Job: The successful applicant will be part of a team of up to 23 Consultants. Clinical duties are shared between Consultants and will include all duties normally expected of any Major Trauma Centre Emergency Department, including clinical and non-clinical responsibilities.
Clinical sessions will be worked in the department seeing patients for senior decision-making and supporting the junior staff. This will include evening and weekend working. The shift pattern is described below.
