Job Description: Care Home Unit Manager
About the Role:
As a Care Home Unit Manager, you will assist the Home Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the facility. Working within a strong management team, you will collaborate closely with our nurses and care staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery tailored to our residents’ needs. Your role will emphasize exceptional nursing and clinical care provisions, where you’ll play an active part in clinical service delivery.
Reports to: Home Manager
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the Home Manager to develop and enforce clinical governance policies and procedures, adhering to NMC and other regulatory body guidelines.
* Mentor and support nurses and carers, providing coaching and training on current clinical practices, including medication administration, wound care, and health assessments.
* Maintain comprehensive care records for all residents, ensuring care plans accurately reflect their needs in line with regulatory requirements.
* Monitor clinical standards across the home, identifying areas for improvement and taking action to implement enhancements.
* Partner with the Home Manager and broader management team to foster a supportive, positive work environment that encourages staff engagement, learning, and development.
* Serve as a role model to nursing and care staff, demonstrating best clinical practices and providing leadership and guidance as needed.
Skills and Attributes:
* Proven experience as a Nurse Manager or similar leadership position in the care sector.
* Warm, approachable personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Strong team player with effective coaching and mentoring abilities.
* Solid clinical skills with a focus on person-centred care.
* Ability to manage pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented approach.
* Proficiency in IT, with experience maintaining electronic records and databases.
Education and Qualifications:
* NMC Registered Nurse with relevant post-registration experience.
