Our client prides itself on providing a seamless, friction-free accounts service to their lawyers. As such, you'll play a highly visible role, having regular contact with the Directors and Heads of Department taking responsibility for financial operations.
In addition to working closely with the Accounts Manager, you will be supported in your role by an Apprentice Accounts Assistant. In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the accounts function. Your duties will involve maintaining cash-flow, checking supplier invoices, monitoring expense claims, checking/approving invoices, overseeing residual balances, dealing with queries, and providing management reports when required.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Day to day processing and auto reconciliation of the Client and Office accounts in line with SAR and VAT regulations.
* Ensuring all daily work is dealt with accurately and efficiently as per the daily work schedules set to include Client Receipts and Payments, Office Receipts and Payments, Billing, Supplier and Nominal Ledgers, checking Completion Packs and end of day balancing and reporting.
* Ensuring all processes are followed as per the workflows produced.
* Running any Accounts reports that are required.
* Administration of the online banking system.
* Ensure work issues or problems are dealt with immediately and reported to the Accounts Manager.
* Answering all telephone calls without delay and dealing with staff queries.
* To assist the firm in adhering to the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
* Ensuring compliance with the firms policies and procedures.
Experience Required
Essential
* 3 years' previous experience in a similar role.
* AAT or similar qualifications preferred.
* Experience dealing with all aspects of daily accounting, including purchase ledger, client account reconciliations, transfers, disbursements/recharges/expenses, and VAT.
* Experience dealing with WIP, billing and credit control.
* Experience dealing with cash-flows, trial balances, management accounts and report analysis is ideal but not essential.
* Previous UK legal finance experience and knowledge of legal terminology.
* Sound knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules to ensure compliance.
* Be able to work in a high-pressured environment and work to deadlines, especially at month/year end.
* Have experience working with accounting and case management software.
