The Rough Sleepers Initiative works to ensure homelessness in all its forms is prevented wherever possible, and to significantly improve health and wellbeing outcomes for those who experience it. As a Volunteer Outreach worker with Change Grow Live at Mansfield, you will work with people to access our services, use our facilities to best effect, and help get where they want to be. You can make a difference. We are seeking volunteers to work together with our mentor/coordinator, specialising in homelessness and access to CGL services. Some of the client group are categorised as difficult to reach, can be prone to substance misuse and/or multiple/severely disadvantaged. It would be an advantage to have some knowledge of substance misuse in general, rough sleeping, and the wider effects of them. We are also looking for some general understanding of the ethics and techniques involved during treatment, and methodology of recovery. No two days are the same and we treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being flexible, curious and a good listener are key. We will support you in this volunteering role by ensuring that you receive regular supervision with your nominated supervisor and have someone on site who you can approach for day-to-day advice and guidance. In return for the time given you will receive valuable training, experience, and skills. You will be making a real difference too. The roles are located at Mansfield/Ashfield, and whilst the core operating times are weekday office hours, there may be opportunity once you become established to work with partner organisations in out of hours work. There are no set criteria for you to volunteer a particular number of hours or days, but we do require reliability and punctuality due to interacting with partner organisations and clients on an appointment based system. You will discuss your commitments and availability a few weeks in advance with your own supervisor, we can accommodate such things as childcare, shift working, or study etc. 2/5/2025 John Haskew | john.haskewcgl.org.uk Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Scheme check at a basic level.
