Position: International Family Placement Social Worker
Location: Norwich, UK
I. Purpose for the Job The International Family Placement Social Worker will support in-country international project staff with up-to-date family placement information. This role involves developing the digital and online training tool "My Family," delivering workshops at international conferences, and working cross-culturally as part of an international team of family placement social workers.
II. Key Objectives
1. Build relationships with project partners.
2. Work with international government authorities and stakeholders to facilitate local domestic placements in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
3. Stay current with international family placement policies and practices, contributing to continuous improvement.
4. Actively contribute to the development of the "My Family" online training tool.
5. Provide regular support to International Project teams and train prospective family placement workers.
6. Teach comprehensive assessment procedures for prospective families, including home visits and interviews.
III. Impact of Results The International Family Placement Social Worker ensures effective training and support, facilitating successful family placements for disadvantaged children. This role contributes to the continuous improvement of family placement policies and practices, enhancing the overall mission of placing children in families.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's or master's degree in social work or a related field.
2. Previous experience in family placement.
3. Strong understanding of child welfare principles and best practices.
4. Ability to teach comprehensive assessment procedures for prospective families.
5. Knowledge of therapeutic work with children prior to placement.
6. Understanding of post-placement support to families.
7. Knowledge of recruiting families in their local context and advising local authorities on necessary checks.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
10. Proficiency in another language (if applicable) is an advantage.
11. Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
