Job Description
As a Trainee Underwriter, you will be part of our Residential Underwriting team in Personal Finance. You will provide an initial assessment on mortgage and secured loan applications to ensure that we minimise risk to the business and have a strong focus on delivering the best customer outcomes by following Group Lending criteria, Policies and Procedures.
As a Trainee Underwriter, we are looking for someone to:
* Provide excellent customer service to our customers, brokers and third parties
* Liaise directly with acting solicitors, obtaining the required completion documentation before ensuring funds are drawn down in line with the agreed completion dates
* Carry out searches and request valuations and references on cases to enable efficient processing of applications
* Accurately assess the risk and provide a rationale on each application ensuring that the loan is affordable, plausible and sustainable
* Have a strong focus on fraud avoidance at all stages of an application, ensuring timely investigation, escalation and reporting, to minimise risk to the business and customer
* Ensure all activity is noted on the relevant processing system so that accurate updates can be provided to brokers and we have an accurate audit trail for each case
* Proactively review pipeline cases to ensure they are managed effectively within agreed KPI and service levels
Qualifications
Essential
* Basic property underwriting experience
* Experience of dealing with customers.
* Ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines.
* Strong planning and organisational skills
