The Cumbria and Lancashire Installations team are recruiting We are looking for a Grade 4 regulatory officer to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cumbria and Lancashire Installations (Industrial regulation) team working with businesses to help them comply with the Environmental Permitting Regulations. You'll ensure permit compliance, make assessments of operator ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise resources. You will work across a range of Industrial sectors including (but not exclusively) Landfill, food and drink, chemicals, and paper and pulp. You'll be using technical and leadership skills to use influence and negotiate to ensure best practice, sometimes dealing with people at senior levels within industry, local communities and other interested groups. You'll be expected to respond, investigate and undertake enforcement action to a range of environmental incidents. The team The post will be based in a Regulatory Team (Installations) in Cumbria and Lancashire. The teams work flexibly across the Area, regulating sites in a range of industrial sectors including chemicals manufacturing, landfill, food and drink, and paper and textiles. Experience/skills Required Experience and knowledge of one or more industrial sector. Confident communicator, able to demonstrate excellent influencing skills and success in developing good relations with difficult people and situations. Ability to manage multiple demands on time in a prioritised manner to achieve outcomes and deliver against plans. A proven track record of taking initiative and using a continuous improvement approach. Adapting readily to new ways of working Flexibility in approach with a 'can do' attitude. Ability to make decisions and solve technical problems. Thorough knowledge of Health, safety and wellbeing and a positive and proactive approach to it Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate how you would provide technical leadership. Works in teams to support colleagues to achieve common goals. Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent or able to demonstrate comparable technical knowledge and experience.
