Band 7- Lead Midwife for Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the maternity team at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as our Lead Midwife for Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections.
The post holder will ensure effective communication throughout the multidisciplinary team and support a positive safety culture. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.

Main duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical:
1. Lead coordination of Induction of Labour and Planned Caesarean Sections to maintain patient safety and flow through the service.
2. Ensure safe, efficient and effective service user flow, whilst ensuring optimal bed utilisation through co-ordination of admissions.
3. Plan, coordinate and facilitate induction of labour workshops for women, birthing people and their families.
4. Plan, coordinate and facilitate planned caesarean section workshops for women, birthing people and their families.
5. Support quality improvement work related to induction of labour and planned caesarean sections.
6. Work clinically supporting women and birthing people who have a planned admission.
The post holder will inspire confidence and innovation amongst our incredible workforce, who together, ensure the women/birthing people and staff are safe, cared for and listened to. They will work collaboratively with the clinical maternity teams, maternity managers, governance and education teams to provide seamless pathways of care and ensure a positive safety and team culture.
Professional:
Practice in line with the NMC Code of Practice.
Management:
To maintain up to date information on induction of labour and planned caesarean sections and anticipated admissions within the clinical areas to drive patient safety and efficient use of staff and resources.
Governance:
To participate in audits and quality improvement programmes in accordance with change management.
Leadership:
To work collaboratively with the senior team to implement, deliver and evaluate effective capacity and flow through the maternity inpatient’s services.
Communication and Teamwork:
To communicate effectively with the wider multidisciplinary teams to ensure high quality individualised care, for all women and birthing people, including those who are not offered induction of labour, who decline induction of labour and who make birth choices outside of clinical guidelines. This care will respect women and birthing people’s autonomy, privacy, and dignity.
Other Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with Trust mandatory training in order to provide safe care. To be aware of responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of women/birthing people, visitors, staff and others, and to comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
