Job overview
The post holder will be expected to manage a timely, safe, efficient, and cost-effective estates operational and maintenance service. Responsible to the Deputy Head of Estates with line management responsibility for all Mechanical operational, trade, specialist technicians, charge hands, and supervisors, working within the Estates Department.
The post holder will act as a specialist on behalf of the Trust for all aspects of Engineering & Building Services and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of the engineering infrastructure, systems, and equipment.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for Engineering (Mechanical) services for the Trust.
2. Facilitate a quality Estates service that is responsive to the Trust operational needs.
3. Provide detailed professional and technical estates advice.
4. Ensure compliance with all Statutory Standards, Codes of Practice, Health and Safety Guidance, Health Technical Memoranda, COSHH, Building Regulations, and NHS Executive Directives relating to Estates Services.
5. Responsible for ensuring that engineering maintenance, including contract work, is carried out to the appropriate standard and specification.
6. Monitor and review the mechanical and electrical engineering service planned preventative maintenance system (PPM) and ensure that statutory and mandatory compliance (SPM) is maintained.
7. Act as Authorised Person (AP) for Medical Gas Pipeline Systems and (AP) Ventilation; along with taking management responsibility for the boiler house area as designated BOAS Manager.
8. Implement and maintain the site asset register; oversee minor schemes and Capital Works.
9. Responsible for performance monitoring and review.
10. Carry out disciplinary actions.
11. Maintain and update divisional policies and procedures.
12. To participate on the Emergency on-call roster and to assist operational staff undertaking out-of-hour duties.
13. Provide cover for colleagues as appropriate.
Skills
* To be an effective communicator at all levels.
* Able to work on own initiative.
* Ability to prioritise workloads.
* Good Knowledge of IT Systems.
* Experience with CAFM Systems.
Minimum Requirements
* HNC or equivalent specialist knowledge in a technical/ engineering area.
* Relevant management qualification to Diploma level or equivalent. AP medical gases and/or Ventilation AP.
