Role Responsibilities
This role is to support the Bank’s credit underwriting team to provide excellent customer service and promote a customer service excellence ethos throughout the Bank. The successful candidate will:
1. Support the Head of Credit in developing, implementing, and monitoring the credit risk strategy and credit risk appetite to build a sustainable portfolio.
2. Critically interpret and analyze portfolio performance to guide risk management decisions, strategic direction, and lending practices.
3. Proactively monitor historic, current, and future trends to ensure individual deals and the portfolio remain within acceptable limits.
4. Systematically monitor external economic data and industry trends to provide insight and thought leadership across external macroeconomic factors.
5. Develop and maintain credit policies, ensuring they are comprehensive and effective in managing credit risk.
6. Diligently fulfill the role of secretariat to the Credit Risk Committee and Transactional Credit Committee, facilitating and coordinating all activities.
7. Make decisions and resolve problems associated with the daily operation of the function.
8. Assist underwriting transactions during busy periods.
9. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
10. Develop and maintain a framework for credit reporting that measures and escalates Credit Risk Appetite measures.
11. Conduct proactive portfolio monitoring and reporting to deliver analysis and insight.
12. Continuously assess and report external trends and horizon risks.
Experience Required
1. Previous experience of working in Financial Services and a regulated environment.
2. Excellent industry sector/business/market/economic/regulatory understanding.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Commercial awareness related to the external competitive market.
5. Ability to take responsibility and ownership of work delivery.
6. Significant resilience under pressure.
7. Strong customer centricity and appreciation of changes in customer behavior.
8. Strong problem-solving, financial, and analytical skills.
9. Ability to write concise and insightful reports.
