Applicants with sub speciality interest in (Robotic) Uro-Oncology are invited for Full Time Consultant Urological Surgeon post working within NHS Fife. This job is a replacement post with guaranteed robotic theatre allocation. The successful candidate will be able to take up a leadership role within the prostate cancer team but also will be supported to expand on other areas of interest. The bulk of the work will be in the management of prostate cancers with the ability to deliver robotic prostate cancer surgery. Experience in wider general urology encompassing emergency work from the acute 24/7 intake and other aspects of elective urology will be required. Ability to develop in the job in other areas can be arrived through mutual discussions.
The successful candidate will join a highly motivated and dynamic, nationally recognised urology team. Fife Urology has an established team of 10 substantive consultants where all subspecialty areas are supported and delivered in an exceptionally cohesive and supportive environment. The team includes a solid middle grade tier (4 NTN East of Scotland Trainees, 2 Specialty Doctors, One Core Surgical Trainee, 2 FY1s and a Final year medical student - Foundation Year apprentice), and dedicated ANP and SCPs.
The successful candidate will be part of a 1 in 8 on-call rota covering adult and adolescent emergencies (except torsions – boys with suspected torsions will be seen from their 11th birthday).
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training to Non-UK Applicants must demonstrate that they have the knowledge, skills and experience required for practising as an eligible specialist in the UK.
Research participation will be encouraged with excellent opportunities to collaborate with The University of St Andrews as well as other nearby institutes. Multiple RCTs (including NIHR trials) are running within the unit and are very well supported by a proactive research team.
