The Opportunity: Having been awarded several new contracts, this leading Heat Network Consultancy is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to run a high-profile multi-million pound hospital refit. You will be responsible for ensuring the project deliverables meet the client requirements and are delivered safely, on time, and within budget across a wide range of activities.
The Role: As the Mechanical Project Manager, you will manage the delivery of this University Hospital retrofit project (across multiple buildings) which includes the following scope:
1. Supply, installation, and commissioning of plant room equipment that is end of life or required – pump sets, control valves, BMS/controls, water quality plant, electricity supplies.
2. Replacement of radiators and AHU coils/fans/motors to allow operation at lower flow temperatures.
3. Replacement of 12no. AHUs.
4. Replacement of TRVs with flow limiting pressure independent TRVs to permit lower return temperatures and flow rates during heating operation.
5. Replacement of heating distribution pipework and installation of differential pressure control valves.
6. Installation of return temperature limiting valves on the DHW recirculation pipework to reduce losses.
To manage the above project, you will be expected to:
1. Manage a range of works packages, with multiple live contracts at different stages of design/construction/commissioning.
2. Oversee and monitor the Health & Safety management of the project, ensuring the relevant RAMS are in place for all internal and external works and all near misses, incidents, and accidents are reported in line with the relevant processes.
3. Ensure full compliance with the Construction and Design Management Regulatory (CDM 2015) and ensure that all legal duties are carried out, documented, and regularly reviewed.
4. Monitor and measure project expenditure against budgets throughout the project lifecycle and report to line management.
5. Manage tender processes for both design and contractor packages, including preparation of bid materials, review of tender responses, responding to RFIs, and making recommendations to the Head of Delivery on appointments.
6. Overall contract management to ensure the work is being delivered in line with the contractual scope/appointments.
7. Manage the projects during delivery, ensuring the contracted scope is delivered within the agreed budget and timescales.
8. Own and manage the project risk registers and use these as your primary communication tool to internal and external stakeholders on project risks, delays, changes, and opportunities.
9. Ensure the projects have sufficient resources allocated to them, and that the resources have suitable experience, competence, and training to deliver the scope of works under the contract. This will involve the production and management of project programs/Gantt charts/coordinated resource plans.
The Person:
* BEng or MEng degree in a relevant engineering discipline OR equivalent qualification in mechanical, electrical, or construction/project management.
* APM/PRINCE2 or equivalent Project Management Qualification.
* Strong project budget management experience to ensure the financial performance of the project is aligned to the package objectives.
* Demonstrable contract management experience including the administration of NEC/JCT.
* Demonstrable experience of effective engagement and communication with NHS or equivalent public sector organisations.
* Minimum 10 years’ experience in project management and/or technical management of M&E systems/heat networks.
* A CSCS Management Card.
* SMSTS qualified.
* A HSE recognised First Aid at work qualification.
* Engineering project management experience of M&E systems, ideally heat networks.
