Description
The salary for this position is JNC points 26-29 (£42,760 to £45,792 per annum) plus a Fringe Allowance of £901. This is based on a 37-hour working week.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen in Surrey's Youth Offer Service for a full time Senior Area Youth Worker.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and committed JNC Nationally Qualified Youth Worker to join our highly innovative and motivated 'Child First' Youth Offer service.
The role will be based in the West of Surrey, at our office in Woking. The contractual location for this role is currently Quadrant Court, however it is our intention to move within the local area to Victoria Gate in Central Woking later this year.

About the Team
The Youth Offer Service is a targeted youth work service embedded within Children's services Adolescent Service. The Service works with the most vulnerable and at-risk young people and groups who fall into the Targeted & Intensive Support categories of Surrey's continuum of support.
Our goal is to provide relational based youth work interventions to strengthen the young people's existing plans, improve life chances and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive statutory services such as Youth Justice, Childrens services, Mental Health services.
Intervention is delivered through timebound targeted group work, targeted community-based projects, targeted outreach programmes, emotional wellbeing drop-ins and one to one work.
Youth work is delivered with a focus on the identified outcomes from the referrer and gaining accreditation (AQAs), employability skills, and developing personal, social & emotional skills to build resilience & promote re-engagement.
The Youth Offer Service has three distinct core intervention areas:
* Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health interventions (Havens Programme)
* Targeted project-based vocational skills interventions
* Targeted Group Community based interventions
About the Role
You will lead the delivery of targeted youth work opportunities that support at-risk and vulnerable young people, ensuring they are robust, strengths-based, and of high quality. Additionally, you will spearhead Community Empowerment work across Surrey, supporting local district and borough voluntary, community, and faith organisations in responding to their identified youth work needs. This role involves collaborating with internal SCC partners and identified communities, working closely with the voluntary, community, and faith sectors, as well as local councillors. Experience in local partnerships, understanding council approaches, and working with community partners and councillors is essential.
You will provide consultation and support to partners, offering guidance, resources, and tools to establish and maintain youth work responses in identified locations, with ongoing support available through the Community Empowerment role. We seek someone JNC qualified with several years of youth work experience, including setting up youth clubs and interventions from scratch, ensuring provision is safeguarded and of high quality. Familiarity with National Youth Agency standards is required. You will manage a small team of youth workers, handle line management responsibilities, support apprentices through their level 3 qualification, and assist part-time staff with level 2/3 qualifications via NYA bursaries. You will maintain relationships with training providers and oversee youth work apprenticeship placements.
Our service operates countywide, seven days a week, requiring some evening and weekend work to meet young people's needs. Staff may be deployed across the county as needed.

1. Lead a dedicated team of staff through a supportive management style
2. Become the service lead for Community Empowerment work across the county
3. Lead the delivery, planning and evaluation process for both individual young people and identified projects
4. Act as a lead professional for the service in the delivery of face-to-face youth work
5. Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with key partners
6. Hold a countywide profile for specialist areas of work as agreed with senior colleagues

This role requires the ability to drive across the county and so we require candidates to have a valid drivers licence and access to a car for business use.
