STADA UK Thornton & Ross - Engineering Degree Apprentice
Huddersfield |U.K.| Full-time | Fixed-Term 50 months
In this newly created role, you will be immersed in the Project Engineering team at STADA. You will work alongside seasoned professionals, gaining valuable experience in delivering turn-key process, packaging, and civil engineering projects, enhancing the safety, quality, efficiency, and capability of our production facility. You will gain hands-on experience support projects to enhance the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
This role is specifically aimed at an A-Level or T-Level student who is looking for the first step on the career ladder. Alongside your role as the Engineering Apprentice, you will undertake the 48-month Building Services Engineering Site Management (Level 6) Apprenticeship to achieve your qualification through a mixture of on-site and online academic learning.
How You Will Make an Impact
On a day-to-day basis your key responsibilities will include:
New Equipment:
* Collaborate with Project Engineers to specify new packaging equipment, considering end-user requirements.
* Assist with equipment supplier assessments and prepare recommendation reports, learning to provide sound financial justifications.
Continuous Improvement:
* Assist production teams in investigating operational problems affecting production.
* Proactively identify, plan, and implement solutions to improve equipment performance.
* Attend Process Improvement Workshops (Lean Six Sigma) to gain relevant tools and techniques.
Project Work:
* Assist the development of projects from conception to delivery and final handover.
* Prepare detailed project plans and specifications for accurate quotes, apply for necessary funding, and prepare handover packages.
AutoCAD:
* Prepare AutoCAD drawings to support various projects, including layouts for existing and proposed new packing halls.
Equipment Qualification Files:
* Work with Project Engineers to conduct a gap analysis of the qualification status of each production line.
* Establish a program to qualify equipment and coordinate testing with Planning and Production departments.
* Prepare, approve, and archive all test reports for future reference.
Administrative Support:
* Support Project Engineers with document creation and organization, with minimal focus on administrative tasks.
What We Are Looking For
* Educated to at least GCSE standard within the last 2 years, with passes at Grade 4 or above in Maths & English (or predicted grades if completing A levels in summer 2025).
* A strong interest in engineering and project management.
* Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and project planning is beneficial but not required.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders in person, by phone, chat messaging and email.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
* Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
* Good IT skills with a proven ability to use Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
