Job overview
The Dermatology department at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a clinical lead - consultant dermatologist on the specialist register to support with delivering, and developing the service across three sites within the Trust (Harlow, Epping and Bishops Stortford).
Outpatient review and advice constitutes the majority of the workload. There are no designated inpatient dermatology beds; however, specialist advice is given on inpatients when requested.
This is an exciting time to join the team dermatology at PAHT as we undergo significant service redesign to create symbiotic and holistic patient pathways with our community partners such as community dermatology. This role is key to supporting the delivery of the service and compliance with our commissioned function, but also the integration of the service with our community dermatology partners. You will be key and drive the development of your colleagues as they work towards entry on the specialist register.
Main duties of the job
* The Trust supports the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal College of Physicians and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
* The post-holder (especially newly appointed consultants or specialty doctors) will have access to mentoring as they commence the post.
* The specialist doctor will be responsible for continued professional development and take part in continuing medical education activities, in line with the requirements of the appropriate Royal College guidelines to maintain standards of performance.
* They will participate in an annual appraisal and maintain a personal development plan agreed at this appraisal. The trust is committed to providing support for revalidation.
* The main duties are the diagnosis, management and treatment of patients with a dermatological skin condition, ensuring the department complies with any national standards for the delivery of care.
