DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Channel 4 Streaming is Channel 4’s video-on-demand proposition, home to original and exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, as well as live and catch up TV from C4’s broadcast channels.
Available as an app on over 20 different platforms including mobiles, tablets, PCs, TVs and games consoles, as well as being syndicated to the likes of Sky and Virgin, Channel 4 Streaming reaches over 6 million monthly viewers and has more than half of all 16-34s in the UK as registered users. The Streaming Product & Growth department is responsible for creating the best possible user experience that is seamless and engaging, as well as overseeing the growth of Streaming across the business.
JOB PURPOSE
The Growth Team is tasked with driving customer activation, retention and revenue through the streaming funnel. Our aim is to get our streaming viewer to do more with Channel 4. This role is focused on driving Channel 4+ growth, our premium paid tier which offers viewers the chance to watch ad-free and get early access to shows. Channel 4+ is a strategic priority and called out as a key part of our future streaming strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Build a clear understanding of Channel 4+ customers, how they use Channel 4+ and identify opportunities for audience growth.
* Manage a cross-functional operational plan to deliver Channel 4+ growth in line with business forecasts. Managing multiple stakeholders across the business including Marketing, Product, Editorial and Distribution.
* Run a cross-functional squad to deliver the Channel 4+ plan, ensuring the squad has a clear purpose and agenda.
* Oversee the end-to-end customer experience across all touchpoints to ensure clear messaging and seamless journeys that facilitate both acquisition of new users and retention of existing users, working in partnership with Marketing to ensure alignment.
* Outline a clear acquisition plan across on-Product/owned media, as well as working closely with Marketing to help inform the paid strategy.
* Define an approach for the retention of existing users with a compelling package of benefits to demonstrate the value of Channel 4+ and reduce churn.
* Help support the Head of Growth develop a partnership strategy to help drive acquisition through third-party partnerships, working closely with our commercial team to identify opportunities.
* Own the Channel 4+ testing roadmap to ensure we are continuing to improve and optimise the whole customer journey, maximising our ability to acquire and retain users.
* Manage a team to deliver the operational plan and ensure the team are focused on the right priorities. Ensuring the team is motivated and continuing to grow and develop.
* Work with the Head of Growth to define the Insight roadmap for Channel 4+ and work closely with our Insight and Analytics team to ask the right questions and continue to build our understanding of customer dynamics.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
* Strong analytical skills, able to compile performance results and interpret data into actionable insights and activity.
* Experience of running a subscription business and the dynamics of acquisition and churn, as well as experience of payment optimisation.
* Proven track record of delivering a cross-functional operational plan which delivers against business targets.
* Previous Customer Relationship Marketing (CRM) experience, understanding the channel and how it can support acquisition and retention strategies.
* Good understanding of digital marketing and media channels, including experience of working with technical teams to deliver digital experiences/products.
* Background in identifying and negotiating partnerships with brands to help drive acquisition of new audiences or retention of existing audiences.
* Has run multivariant testing, can plan test hypotheses and interpret results.
* Has worked in creative industries, able to think creatively as well as analytically.
* Is obsessive about data and using it to provide compelling evidence.
* Consistently displays excellent communications skills and is good at presenting information in a concise and engaging fashion.
* Proven experience of developing relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
* Naturally curious and enjoys exploring new ideas and possibilities.
* Likes getting stuck into a problem and coming up with solutions.
* Highly organised, self-motivated and able to manage a diverse workload.
* Is passionate about the C4 remit and content.
Hybrid Working
From September 2023 employees will be working minimum 3 days per week in their office location. The other 2 days should be working from home. This is to create more time for collaboration, creativity, learning and feedback. We also have a working from another location policy for up to 10 days. This pattern is subject to future changes which would be communicated in advance to provide employees with adequate notice of any change. Salary: Starting salary from £75,250.00 dependent on experience
