HSE Advisor - Civils/Groundworks (residential projects)
Cambridgeshire, Site based + use of regional office
£35k-50k basic + generous car allowance, fuel card, annual bonuses and more!
Overview:
Our client are industry leaders in residential groundworks/ civils projects, operating across 7 regions and continuing to expand year on year. This role is perfect for a Health & Safety focused individual who has gained experience working for a civil/groundworks focused company, preferably with knowledge of residential new builds; however, we can show flexibility on these aspects for the right person.
The continuous growth has created the need for a HSE Advisor to join the team in Cambridgeshire. Operating across the region, with site locations being between Cambridge and Essex, predominantly in and around Cambridge. Along with the use of a local office, the successful HSE will have an active presence on various sites.
Responsibilities
* Attend pre-com meetings as requested to contribute to the initial decisions made by the contract team.
* Provide assistance to the organisation to enable statutory notices to be applied for when required.
* Bring to the attention of the senior management teams any serious breaches of Company policy, procedures, and legislation.
* Promote a positive H&S Culture within the Company.
* Assist the Regional SHE Manager to prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy.
* Produce RAMS.
* Conduct planned site visits and audits including reporting and follow-up actions.
* Identify training needs and deliver on-site training including toolbox talks.
* Investigate accidents and incidents.
Qualifications/ Experience
* Preferably from a construction degree background; however, open to candidates who have progressed within a company and gained relevant experience.
* Prior experience in a Health & Safety focused construction position (2+ years).
* NEBOSH/ IOSH qualifications.
* Previous experience on groundworks/ civils projects, i.e., roadworks, site layout, drainage, etc.
* Previous experience on residential/ new build developments.
* Capable of tackling problems, raising concerns, and providing advice on-site with any H&S concerns that arise.
* Strong communicator, excellent English reading & writing skills.
* Authorised to work in the UK + UK driving license (no sponsorship on offer).
